Applications Open for 10-Day Medical Internship in Bharat
Applications are now open for a 10-day immersive medical internship offering pre-medical students, medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals an opportunity to serve rural and tribal communities across Bharat.
The program combines hands-on rural healthcare, telemedicine, community health, Arogya, Ayurveda, integrative medicine, and exposure to allopathic care in urban hospitals. Participants will also engage in sewa, interact closely with local communities, experience Indian culture, and enjoy authentic regional cuisine.
Designed to blend clinical learning, service, cultural immersion, and personal growth, the internship offers participants a meaningful opportunity to understand healthcare delivery across diverse settings.

Ekal USA to Celebrate 25 Years of Service and Impact
Ekal USA will celebrate its Silver Jubilee from September 25–27, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina, marking 25 years of service, impact, and the collective contribution of the Ekal Pariwar.
The three-day celebration will bring the Ekal community together to reflect on its journey, celebrate achievements, and help shape the vision for the next 25 years.

Ekal Charity Concert Raises Support in Tampa
On 20 June 2009, EVFUSA organised an Ekal Charity Concert at ICC in Tampa, Florida, as a fundraising initiative.
The evening featured performances by Preet Prerana, playback singer; Ashok Pandey, Tabla Martand; Sushil Baweja, musician; and Kumar Rai, playback singer, presenting geet, ghazals, bhajans and Bollywood songs. The admission fee was $25 per person, with proceeds supporting Ekal’s mission.
Ekal Vidyalaya DFW Raises $222,000 to Support 342 Villages
The Ekal Vidyalaya DFW Chapter achieved a major fundraising milestone at “Kathak on the Silver Screen” on August 28 at the Granville Arts Center in Garland, Texas, raising $222,000 in donations and pledges. The funds have the potential to benefit nearly 342 villages across Bharat, supporting 252 Ekal schools and three special development projects.
Led by DFW Ekal President Meenu Suhalka, the evening highlighted Ekal’s initiatives beyond education, including nutrition awareness, organic farming, sports, tailoring, handloom skills and computer training. The event also paid tribute to Ekal’s first president, the late Dhiren Kuntawala, in the presence of his family, and expressed solidarity with those affected by the floods in Nepal.
A special message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged people to use their knowledge and skills in service to society. Sri Krishna Wealth, affiliated with New York Life Insurance, supported the event as a sponsor.
The cultural highlight, “Kathak on the Silver Screen,” featured nearly 25 dancers, presenting a vibrant journey through Indian cinema by blending classical Kathak with Bollywood music. Kathak guru Akhila Rao, also an event sponsor, highlighted how the production celebrated Kathak’s influence on cinema as well as India’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
The successful evening brought together culture, community and service, strengthening Ekal’s mission to empower rural Bharat.

Ekal Extends Flood Relief in Assam
Ekal Abhiyan, with local committees in Sivasagar, extended relief to families affected by severe floods in Assam. The floods impacted 134 Ekal Vidyalaya villages across Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
Ekal volunteers visited affected villages in Namati, Amguri and Geleki, assessed immediate needs and distributed essential relief materials. The initiative provided timely support while reinforcing Ekal’s commitment to serving rural communities during times of crisis.
All India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament Held in Surat
On 2 August 2026, Ekal Shrihari Vanvasi Vikas Trust, Surat Youth Committee organised the All India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2026 at Panchvati Hall, Surat. Around 500 players from across India competed for prizes worth ₹5 lakh.
Grandmaster Shriram Jha inspired participants with his presence and guidance, while Anuj Shrivastava emerged as the tournament champion. The event also introduced Ekal Shrihari’s service initiatives to a wider audience, connecting youth, sport and social service.
FTS Mela 4.0 Promotes Women’s Entrepreneurship and Service
Friends of Tribals Society Mahila Samiti, Bengaluru organised FTS Mela 4.0, featuring more than 85 stalls by women entrepreneurs and attracting over 1,200 visitors.
The event was inaugurated by A.K.N. Ravishankar and Paula Ravishankar Dakoju, with Muralilal Sarawgi as Guest of Honour. Attractions included Ekal products, coffee-painting art, lucky draws and a free health check-up camp by Apollo Hospitals.
The Mela successfully promoted women’s entrepreneurship, community participation and awareness of Ekal’s service initiatives.
Fourth Skill Development Centre Inaugurated in July
On 20 July 2026, Ekal Gramothan Foundation inaugurated a Skill Development Centre (SDC) in Bidar, Karnataka, marking its fourth SDC inauguration during the month.
The continued expansion aims to bring skills, livelihood opportunities, confidence and economic empowerment closer to rural communities. With Bidar joining this growing network, Ekal Gramothan continues to strengthen its mission of creating sustainable opportunities across rural Bharat.
Free Eye Screening Reaches Remote Villages of Lohardaga
The Arogya Foundation of India has launched a free eye-screening initiative covering 60 villages in Bhandra and Chatti Sanch areas of Lohardaga district.
Jai Prakash Sharma, Convener; Dr. Kumud Agrawal, District President; Sanjay Choudhary, Vice President; and Sunil Agrawal, Secretary, highlighted the initiative’s aim to provide free eye examinations, medicines, spectacles and cataract surgeries.
The first camp at Mukandon village screened 24 people, with one person receiving spectacles.
Arogya Foundation Forms New Chapter Committee in Kanpur
On 7 August 2026, Arogya Foundation of India held a meeting of its newly formed Kanpur Chapter Committee at the Merchant Chamber of Kanpur, with around 60 office-bearers and members participating.
The programme was attended by Manoj Modi, National General Secretary; Dr. Mukul Bhatia, National Guide; Bhawani Bhikh Tiwari, Prant Sanghchalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh; Dr. Umesh Paliwal, Trustee; Vinod Dhawan, President; Rajesh Grover, Secretary; Dr. Rita Mittal; and Awadh Bihari Mishra, President, Brajmandal Division.
The meeting focused on expanding the Chapter, defining responsibilities and developing its future action plan for community service in Kanpur.
Rotary Club of Chanakya Visits Ekal Vidyalaya
On 9 August 2026, 47 members of the Rotary Club of Chanakya and their families visited the Ekal Vidyalaya at Mile village, Bhairopur, led by Ganesh Khetriwal, President, Vanbandhu Parishad, Patna Chapter.
The visitors interacted with students and learned about Ekal’s focus on education, Indian culture and values. They distributed educational materials, planted 30 mango saplings, and a team of doctors conducted eye examinations for 114 children and villagers, identifying several cataract cases for further treatment support in Patna.
The visit offered participants a meaningful first-hand experience of Ekal’s impact in education, healthcare, service and environmental conservation.
Donor Visit to IVD Centre and Field Activities in Chamarajanagar
On 17 August 2026, donors Murdula and Nanda visited the IVD Centre at Begur, Chamarajanagar Anchal, to interact with the IVD team, Sevikas and GRC Centre students.
The programme began with Omkar and Deep Prajwalan, followed by the distribution of certificates to IVD Centre students by Murdula, Nanda and Samiti members. A student also presented a special Bharatanatyam performance.
The donors later visited the GRC Centre village of Tagluru, where they observed community activities and organic farming practices followed by a local farmer. A second visit to Kotegere village to observe Arogya activities could not be completed due to Murdula feeling unwell.
The visit provided the donors with a closer understanding of IVD’s training, community development and grassroots initiatives.
Ajmer–Pushkar Vanayatra: Witnessing Ekal’s Impact
On 19 August 2026, Friends of Tribals Society, Jaipur Chapter, organized a Vanayatra to Ekal Vidyalayas in Moti Sar and Khadel villages in the Ajmer region.
The group visited a Gramothan tailoring and computer training centre, where around 20 women are being trained. Trainees shared that they are earning ₹20,000–₹25,000 per month, while some have created employment for other women and earn up to ₹1.5 lakh per month.
At the Vidyalayas, Acharyas Leela and Pratiksha, along with the Gram Samitis, welcomed the visitors. Children confidently presented songs, poems and multiplication tables. Educational materials and mobile libraries were distributed, along with book kits for five other Ekal Vidyalayas.
Participants included Pushpendra Choudhary, Secretary, Jaipur Chapter; Manmohan Mahipal, Treasurer; Jayant Byadwal; Sanjay Saraswat; Vijay Agrawal; Bhuvan Agrawal; Rakhi Grover; Vipul Grover; and their sons, Pranab and Aditya, along with other members.
Notably, nine of the ten participating members were experiencing a Vanayatra for the first time, gaining valuable first-hand insight into Ekal’s work in education, values and village development.
