Our team

Target Audience: Intended for students in Grades 6-11. But all ages are welcome to attend!

Workshop Information: Over the course of the sessions, we will cover basic chemistry skills and topics essential to the world around us. Participants will have the opportunity to have interactive activities and engaging lessons to learn the following topics: Introduction to Chemistry, Atomic Theory/Nuclear Chemistry, Electrons and the Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding and Water, Chemical Reactions, The Mole and Stoichiometry, and Acids/Bases/Equilibrium. Students will not only learn topics but understand real-world applications of these topics and hopefully get the chance to learn about careers in this field. Proceeds from the workshop fees will be used to support students education and women empowerment centers from tribal and remote villages in India.

About the Instructors: Dhruv Girish is a student at Urbana High School, and is a strong proponent of the Medical Field, working with industry professionals and professors to work on new and innovative research in the fields of Immunology and Biomedical Sciences. Dhruv has been featured on ABC, and has won awards with the Point of Lights, Prudential Volunteer Award, IMPACT Award, etc. He is a big supporter of Urbana STEMM, a local program where he mentors his peers, he has worked to create a partner program called The Scholarly Program that helps support students' endeavors within the medical field. The program will be moderated and supported by Dr. Amit Kumar who is scientist at National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD.
