Ekal Vanyatras (Ekal Visits)

Ekal Visit by

Sri Braham Ratan Agrawal:
Sri Braham Ratan Agrawal (Tycon of USA also a donor who has adopted 1000 Ekal Vidyalaya) visited Ekal Vidyalaya at Chhattisgarh in December 2005. During his Chhattsgarh visit, he met the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh along with the officials of Friends of Tribals Society. They talked to CM of Chhattisgarh about the expansion of Ekalvidyalaya in that state. Dr. Singh admired the generosity of Sri Braham Ratan Agrawal and told that the businessmen will get inspired with his great contribution for eradication of illiteracy from India.

Smt. Sangita Gupta:
A vanyatra was organised in Chattisgarh state, region Bastar. People from Mumbai and Delhi attended the 2 day Yatra. This region is full of its rich culture and heritage and a true Vanvasi Kshetra. One could not believe that in this modernized and computerized world, their are belts of vanvasi people who follow their old age traditions, preserving their heritage. It was good to see Ekal Vidyalaya as a tree and its branches - Shiksha, Arogya and Gram Vikas, working so beautifully for the upliftment of the vanvasi people. The dedication, motivation of full time workers of EVFI, working in tough and hard circumstances to fulfil the goals is really unsung. To note - till today their is a tribe called Bhunjiya tribe who do not let outsiders to enter their house nor accept anything from them. Their women are not allowed to come out of their houses. If anybody enters their huts they destroy that hut and build a new one. I have nothing more to express ...........

Makar Sankranti

When and why is Makar Sankarati celebrated?
When One Zodiac Sign enters the 2nd Zodiac Sign it is called Sankranti.
When Earth enters the Makar (Capricorn) sign it’s called Makar Sankrati. It is held on January 14th every year. From this day the sun starts traveling from South (Dakshiyan) to North (Uttrayan). It means the day starts getting big, light gets better and the night starts getting small. The Cold is empowered by the sun light.
When the Sun Travels from North to South (Dakshiyan) it’s the opposite weather.

How it is celebrated?
According to Vedic Shastra, any thing donated on this day, returns back to us in the multiplication of hundreds in the next birth. On this day people take bath in the nearest river or lake, do poojas, give donation and spread love among each other.

What activities do Ekal chapters perform on this day?
It appeals to all its donors all over the country to donate items for our whole time workers and teachers, because Indians tend to donate on this particular auspicious day. We tell them to give us this donation and signify the importance of donating as we give it to workers who travel and work day and night in the remote tribal areas. It’s a form of appreciation from the city people.

This year we are giving all over the country to our 16506 teachers and 3500 fulltime workers of Ekal Vidyalya, Arogya And Gram Vikas.
