Ekal Vidyalaya is excited to announce a new opportunity for college students passionate about healthcare and service: the Ekal Medical Winter Internship. This 3-week program, taking place from December 27, 2025 to January 19, 2026, offers students the chance to gain firsthand experience in rural India, working at the intersection of medicine, public health, and community service.
Interns will actively serve in Ekal villages by supporting local health initiatives, assisting with community outreach, and participating in health education activities. In addition to their daily service, students will have the chance to observe India’s healthcare system in action, including exposure to rural hospitals, shadowing opportunities, and preventative medicine practices.
As part of the program, each intern will also complete a small research project aimed at identifying a healthcare need and proposing a future solution that Ekal Vidyalaya could implement to improve the quality of life in rural communities. Students will conduct background research, gather observational data, interview villagers, and present their final proposal at the end of the internship.
This is a unique opportunity for students of any discipline interested in medicine, public health, or global service to build real-world experience, contribute meaningfully to holistic rural development, and immerse themselves in India’s rich culture. Applications will be released soon — we encourage motivated and service-oriented students to apply!
