Target Audience: Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School (Ages 5-12)
Workshop Information: This virtual beginner chess camp will focus on the basics of chess like how the pieces move, and will work on some basic opening strategies to start a game of chess. We will learn the different point values of pieces and how and when they can be used at their best! Additionally, we will learn the basics of chess move notation! Finally, once we have learned some basic openings and how all the pieces move we will end with a tournament!
About the Instructor: Arpan Shah is a rising freshman. He has been playing chess for over 9 years! He is part of his school's chess team. He has won numerous local individual and team chess tournaments. He wants to help Ekal Vidyalaya raise money for underprivileged children in remote areas and villages throughout India and help them receive an education that every child deserves. Hence, he will be donating all his profits to Ekal Vidyalaya.
